LG&E and KU
On-Site Home Energy Analysis

If you prefer the assistance of a professional you can schedule an appointment to meet with a certified energy analyst who will assess your home's energy efficiency. If you plan to implement any major home improvements or update any major appliances, LG&E and KU's On-Site Home Energy Analysis program gives you the tools and tips to get started.

The certified analyst will come to your home by appointment and test the home's "air tightness" by performing a blower door test; this test measures how much air may be leaking from the home, as well as how much outdoor air may be leaking into the home through cracks, inefficient insulation or other spaces. This program now offers infrared camera technology during the analysis (when conditions warrant the use of such equipment) to better identify the home's air leakage points. Duct air tightness testing and gas combustion appliance safety tests also are conducted in the home.

After completing the initial test and making several on-site improvements, the analyst will then test the home's air tightness for a second time during the same appointment. The home's energy efficiency can improve as much as 10 percent after the On-Site Home Energy Analysis. Customers will also receive customized reports with recommendations for energy saving improvements, as well as energy-saving products. An on-site Home Energy Analysis costs $25. The $25 charge will appear on the customer's utility bill the month following the analysis appointment.

If, after your on-site analysis, you decide to make additional energy-efficient improvements to your home, you may qualify for financial incentives from LG&E and KU. Learn more.
