Applicant process

The hiring process at LG&E and KU starts by reviewing our current openings to find the job you’re interested in by searching openings and completing the online application. Once you’ve submitted your application, you will end on a thank you page and receive an email about your application being submitted. If you did not receive this email, please check your SPAM folder.

Applicant Screening (2 - 3 weeks)

Applications/resumes are reviewed and compared to the qualifications and skills required for the position. If a determination is made to consider your application further, you may be contacted for a phone interview to further discuss your interest and background.

Pre-Employment Testing (2 - 3 weeks)

If you apply for a position that requires a pre-employment test, you’ll receive an email invitation with the information regarding attending the test session. The pre-employment tests are validated tools used to assess a candidate's ability to perform job related skills. If you successfully pass the pre-employment test, you may be contacted directly by someone from our team for further consideration.

Interview (1 – 2 weeks)

If you’re invited to an interview, you’ll be able to tell us more about your experience and skills and your interest in the position. You’ll likely experience a panel interview in which several people ask you behavior-based interview questions. It’s important that you’re prepared to speak about specific experiences and the qualifications you possess.

Post-Offer Process (2 - 3 weeks)

If you’re extended an offer, upon your acceptance we’ll conduct a thorough pre-employment screening process. This screen may include but is not limited to verifying your work and education history, a criminal background check, contacting personal references, and, if applicable, physical abilities testing. This process can take up to two weeks after you’ve accepted the employment offer.

Hire (2 weeks)

Now that you’ve successfully completed the hiring process, your next step is to report to work. If you need to give notice to your current employer, we understand and value your commitment to leaving on good terms. As you complete this hiring process, we look forward to your joining the team and having a successful career with LG&E and KU.
