PSC Approves LG&E and KU Requests for Rate Increases

Midnight at the Ghent Power Plant

On Dec. 20, 2012, the Kentucky Public Service Commission (KPSC) approved the unanimous settlement agreement which had been reached in November between LG&E and KU and interested parties in the companiesí rate proceedings.

You may recall that at the time of our filing in June, we explained that over the previous 29 months we had invested more than $1 billion in more than 4,000 generation, transmission and gas distribution projects primarily to meet our customers' continued — and growing — energy needs and to improve service and reliability.

As you can imagine, the decision to raise rates is not one we make lightly. However, thanks to the investments we have made over the years, you can enjoy the benefits of a more efficient utility, improved communications and better service from LG&E.

With the KPSC approval, rates went into effect on Jan. 1, 2013.
