Get $50 per appliance for recycling old and inefficient
refrigerators and freezers!

Have you ever wondered how much energy you may be using to power your decades-old refrigerator nestled in your basement or garage? While it may hold a place near and dear to your heart, it could be sucking up nearly one month's worth of your energy usage by chugging year-round to keep its cool.

According to ENERGY STAR®, models manufactured 30 to 40 years ago use nearly two times the amount of energy each year compared to today's high-efficient ENERGY STAR® certified refrigerators, which use approximately 500 kilowatt-hours annually.

The Fridge and Freezer Recycling Program helps residential electric customers haul away and properly recycle old, inefficient refrigerators and freezers. In return for reducing energy consumption and recycling the appliances, customers will receive $50 per appliance.

Customers can schedule a pick-up time to have a trained collection team remove and recycle up to two inefficient, certified appliances at their convenience in the same calendar year. The appliances must be at least 7.75 cubic feet or larger, operational, empty and accessible for removal.
