Screen navigation tips for screen readers

  • Screens are designed in a table format (use the table commands per screen reading program.) Use the table commands to look at the contents of each table to identify what information is on the screen.
  • When you land in a table you will get an audio description of the table.
  • When you land in an edit field you will get an audio description of the information to be entered.
  • The 'Header' command will not work because there are no headers on the web page.
  • When a sub-menu is opened use the '2' key on the Number Pad to navigate around and then hit enter to make a selection.
  • When an item is difficult to find remember to use the find command to search for buttons or other controls on the screen.
  • To pay your bill or look up information, make sure you tab through all edit fields.
